Case Handling Workshop

The case handling workshop ('CHWS' for short) is a series of events organized by the data protection authorities to help with the case work. The workshop is a subgroup of the Spring Conference of the Data Protection Authorities. Papers of the workshop are occasionally discussed at the spring conference.

It helps to exchange information on practical issues at the operational level ('staff level') and promotes general contacts. Contacts between the authorities are increasingly useful for cases involving which cross-border legal action. The CHWS convenes twice a year in different host countries. The representative of the data protection authorities of the EEA member states, Switzerland, the future EU member states, all European countries and territories with EU-recognised equivalent privacy, the European Commission and the European Data Protection Supervisor are regular participants.
