DVR Number

The DVR Number (DVR-Nummer in German) is a code of seven digits that is given to every controller [Auftraggeber] who notifies his data applications [Datenanwendungen] with the Data Processing Register [Datenverarbeitungsregister]. Not every controller is required to notify, meaning that somebody can legally run a data application and have no DVR number. See the page on notification for more information.

If the data application [Datenanwendung] is subject to notification, communications to the data subject shall carry the controllers registration number (section 25 DSG 2000).
